The Internet Plagiarism Explosion Essay example -- Exploratory Essays

A great deal has been published in the media about the "explosion" of Internet plagiarism among high school and college students. Because the Internet is so young, there have been few studies conducted on the extent of Internet plagiarism. However, existing studies do show that the Internet is an extremely popular tool students use to cheat on written assignments. In any group of students, some will choose the path of academic dishonesty and copy the words or ideas of another person without giving credit to the author. The advent of the Internet has opened new ways for students to plagiarize written material. Not only can students copy material from individual Web sites, but they can use an online paper mill to pay for and receive an entire paper written by someone else. Educators are interested in the extent of Internet plagiarism, why some students plagiarize using the Internet, and what they can do to prevent students from cheating when they use online resources. I will attempt to address these concerns in this paper. The Center for Academic Integrity based at Duke University studies issues of academic integrity including trends in cheating and plagiarism across the United States. Its studies show that Internet plagiarism is a widespread problem among high school and college students. There are several types of Internet plagiarism. The most common way for a student to plagiarize material from the Internet involves copying material from a variety of independent Web sites and compiling them into an "original" document. A less common type involves a student obtaining a paper from a paper mill. There are now thousands of paper mills on the World Wide Web offering a variety of services. India has the  world's second-largest  mobile phone user base with over 929. 37 million users as of May 2012. It has the  world's third-largest  Internet user-base with over 137 million as of June 2012. [pic] THE RISE OF INDIA MOBILE PHONES INDUSTRY The explosion of mobile phones sector is attributed to the following three factors: 1. Opening up of new technology 2. Convergence of computing and telephony 3. Mobile Phones EnablementOPENING UP OF NEW WIRELESS TECHNNOLOGY Till 2010, India was a pure-play GSM and CDMA technology driven country whereas rest of the world had moved to 3G(HSPA+) and few advanced nations(like Japan) already launching LTE(Long Term Evolution) high speed wireless technologies. Post the 3G and BWA auctions in India, the wireless technology landscape s tarted changing and alongside it brought the need for differently (enhanced) skilled professionals to handle new technology and associated devices. A brief snapshot of the wireless technologies deployed in India is below: [pic]India today is on the forefront of telecom services and related content. This changes the way the telecom products are conceptualized, priced, launched and their life cycle is managed. Not much of this is known to the budding leaders during their academic orientations. CONVERGENCE OF COMPUTING AND TELEPHONY In today’s world, computers are used to make voice calls (Gtalk, Skype) and phones are used for data access. So each device has evolved from its original function and become multi tasked. This convergence of devices ecosystem is happening due to the following:For most time in computing technology, microprocessors were traditionally associated with computers and other IT related products. However, since the last two years, phones are also sold based o n the GHZ speed of processor that makes them run, various related aspects like single core, dual core and quad core processors. Now, this has brought about a major shift in consumer behavior whereby a buyer actually decides about a phone not just by looks and geeks but begins with the processor strengths and data speeds supported.This all comes with perceived compromise on battery life however the mobile phones processor manufacturers are fast gaining ground in terms of optimizing battery life for higher processor power. MOBILE PHONES ENABLEMENT A natural question about why is the mobile phone industry growing at a strong pace is obvious. Firstly, India is now moving to be a strong mobile replacement market. The mobile sales ratio is skewed to replacement buyers as compared to first term buyers as per industry sources. Hence there is a two-fold demand now.Alongside, mobile phones have become the first internet access device for the youth and hence the mobile internet penetration mom entum is making up the volume. Lastly, a mobile phone is no longer a luxury and is affordable by anyone, at a cost as low as $15. All these factors are leading to a strong growth in mobile phone sales. MOBILE PHONES DISTRUBUTION SYSTEM Let us now examine the mobile phones sales and distribution systems to better understand the required skills that need to be acquired by professionals aspiring to work in this sector. Drawn from over 100 B-Schools beyond the Top 25 in the country, the students who were covered by the survey were tested for verbal ability, quantitative ability and reasoning. This despite the fact that more and more B-schools are mushrooming across the country churning out hundreds upon thousands of freshly-minted MBAs every year. Windows is a fast emerging ecosystem supported by Microsoft and Nokia. A professional must know the advantages of each OS so that the right strategy of product and marketing management can evolve.The strength and diversity of operating system is also ensuring that a mobile phone becomes much more than a mere communication device. While the above aspiration is good to have however the industry is able to attract talent but struggling to get the right one. The employability skills required for mobile sector include a thorough understanding of mobile phones technology, various operating systems, consumer purchase behavior, OEM to Market distribution model and multi screen convergence.There are too many mobbing parts in the Indian mobile phone industry and the same are not evidently addressed as a subject matter in various institutions. The company will have to make an attractive pay proposition for salaries before the discontent goes overboard. Failure to do this will prompt them to undulge in unproductive behaviours like witch hunting against those who ar perceived to be favored by the administration. Six Months Plan Development Plan For Conflict and Negotiation Apparently, groups and teams in organizations need a substantial amount of time and attention especially regarding conflict management and negotiation. For any strategy regarding conflict resolution to work accordingly, it will be important to get rid of all the predisposing factors. They could be, harassment, disproportional workload, miscommunication, or even proper job specification. Also, ensuring credibility on the side of the management will be critical since the workers will respect it depending on how transparent they are in terms of how they conduct their business. With a three months strategy the administration should be able to install the various models of ensuring all these are in place. Throughout this period all disagreements should be clarified, accomplish the establishment of a common goal, lay strategies for striking compromise, and establish measure to prevent reach common ground as well as strategizing on how to help the team t avoid future altercations stemming from conflicts (David, 2013). All these steps should be tailored on the above models. The company should prepare training workshops to enable employees to sharpen their knacks regarding conflict resolution at workplace. To Kill a Mockingbird Journal Three : Chapters 21-31 By: Saima Vedachhia "Well, it'd be sort of like shootin ' a mockingbird, wouldn't it"( Page 370). Scout's response to her father's question yet again reveals to us her magnificent understanding of life has to bring. Scout is quite young, and her father is unsure about if she understands everything that her father and the sheriff had to say . However, she amazes him and makes him really happy when she compares Arthur Radley to a Mockingbird. Just like a Mockingbird, Boo has never harmed anybody but rather saved the lives of two innocent children and it would be a sin to bring him to trial for the death of Bob Ewell. This quote basically sums up the novel by proving to us how wrong it is to bring upon hurt to someone innocent. Boo is a symbol representing a mockingbird in this book, he is an innocent character who is misjudged many times. Along with Boo, Tom Robinson was also criticized and judged for someone who he really wasn't. A Mockingbird does truly sum up the book i n a snap of a finger, but I believe that this book is also about civilization and the judgements we make. Maycomb repeatedly makes inferences and opinions based on one's appearances, struggles, status, and their situations. Tom tries to escape prison because he knew that the colour of his skin wont allow him to leave the four walls he was trapped in forever, according to what judge thought was where he belonged. The decision was already made before the trial, because everyone assumed that all black men lie. This is really stereotypical , people of colour can be telling the truth and not lying. He was already judged and criticized since the day he was born. In the book Scout proves herself as a young kid to be a very mature and understanding person when she say "Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough" (Page 374). At this moment, Scout now und erstands the truth behind Boo Radley and start to be understanding with him and begins to realize the false theory and judgement people had about him. As she was standing on the Radley's porch, Scout now finally sees the world from how Boo point of view. The man she used to be terrified of, was the man who had saved her and her brother's life. This helps her to realize that the world will always tell you who a person is, when in reality they know nothing but rumours from one another. Scout finally goes to the Radley house, indicate and represents her growth as a human being. Bob Ewell had played a major role in death of Tom Robinson and was so cruel and evil that he wanted to kill Atticus's children, but karma didn't let him go and he was killed for all of his bad actions to everyone. This just goes to show that the phrase "What goes around comes around" truly does exist. The people of Maycomb made decisions, criticized, judged and assumed facts about people. It was unfa ir town, and gave certain privileges to certain people. It was a town that believe rumours to be true and thought being dishonest was a normal thing to do. The town is surely make-belief, but the people, and the situations are not. Even in today's society , we have people who think that they are given the authority to make decisions and judgements about a certain type of group of people. The double-standards and the unfair decisions still exist. Some people are still thought to be "better" than others. If this book that was written a century ago is still something that we can relate to today, then we can see how many things have change in life but human being still stay the same. We need to stop making judgement by only what we see, because there is more to this world that than what your two eyes could see. My last statement is this
